Some of you may have heard about the latest Update Rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011: Update Rollup 12 or sometimes referred to as Polaris. Others of you may not have heard about the Update Rollup (UR). While there are some great new benefits of UR and they will certainly provide most of you different degrees of value, it has come to our attention that there are some issues with this UR and we would advise not installing it at this time.
It is equally important to note that this UR is available through Windows Updates and some of you may have already had this UR installed on your client machines (if they are running the CRM client for Microsoft Outlook), on your reporting server (if you have the CRM Reporting Extensions installed), on your CRM server, or on the server that has your CRM Email Router. The impacts of this are not fully known at this time however, some early indications from others in the field indicate that there have been impacts to CRM related email functionality, headers on forms not appearing correctly, and potentially others.
Summit Group Software would like to advise our customers to not install this UR at this time due to the ongoing issues with it. If, however, you have already installed it or your Windows Updates have installed it for you, the advice we have seen has been to roll back to UR11 by uninstalling UR12.
