If I were a betting woman, I’d wager that the Microsoft Dynamics CRM team of developers is a super smart group of people. So they’re probably familiar with Occam’s Razor (also called Ockham’s Razor), a principle that loosely speaking means: the simpler the better.
Don’t get me wrong, every release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM adds new functionality. But at the time, the User Interface (UI) becomes simpler and more intuitive.
Of course the developers don’t know Ockham personally, because William of Ockham lived in the late 13th to mid-14th century! Born in the small village of Ockham, William was a Franciscan friar, philosopher, and theologian.
The modern version of Occam’s Razor would be the KISS Principle which was introduced by the U.S. Navy in 1960. KISS stands for “Keep it simple, stupid.”
Let’s look at what Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 – scheduled for release sometime this Fall – promises to bring us. First, there’s an article called “Making Microsoft Dynamics CRM Personal” which appeared yesterday (July 2, 2013) on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM community site. Here’s an excerpt:
“Buying decisions are very personal, and companies who are looking to deliver exceptional customer experiences need simple, intuitive, smart and easy to use solutions to help them succeed.
That’s why we are so excited about our upcoming release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013. We have completely reimagined our user experience, streamlining it so that the user can easily see what they need to do, accomplishing their tasks quickly and easily.”
Sounds like Occam’s Razor to me.
A second article called “Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Coming this Fall” which also appeared on July 2nd on the enterprise APPS today site, talks about business-made-personal and the streamlined UI.
Personally, I share the CRM development team’s excitement about the new release and can hardly wait to see it in action. Stay tuned to the CRM Software Blog for a more definitive release date. Because when it comes to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, we’re the group in the know!
